San Miguel de Allende 4

In a studio owned by friends of Mimi’s Mother there’s a collection of 17th century Mexican statues and decorations. The collector is a jeweler and works with Bill, one of the owners of the lovely house and garden.

The upper collection has a surround of gilded shells. These were made by the jeweler out of paper mache and then gilded. The lights reflect on all the gold surfaces make a glow in the space.

Below the Madonna has prayer symbols attached to her dress. These are in the shapes of hands, feet, babies, etc. requests of the supplicants.

Our days have been heavenly. 80’s in late afternoon and 40’s at night. And there is always a slight breeze scented by flowers and herbs.
