This list is being written in the gigantic Reading Room of the Bibliotheca. The building and complex was designed by Stornetta. It is super. When it was built 20 years ago or so our guide said it cost $220 million but it looks like a lot more.
The Reading Room is built with 7 levels all open to the beach extraordinary skylight which allows daylight with sun penetration. There are students all over the place. I found a chair at a study station where pairs of chairs are occupied by students who look as if they are being tutored.
Aside from the magnificent open collection there is a digital area that is mighty impressive. For example we learned that the entire collection is online in 5 languages. Who knew?
