The alcoves now empty were once used as meeting places for visiting dignitaries. Since the only light is from the large entry doors lights were from oil lamps distributed as needed through the space.
I am not sure this will work but there seems to be info available on the internet. I have not tried it since if I can get any signal I don’t want to waste it in trying to read about a place I just saw. At least not now.

Costumes are great, but look at the tiles!
The marble is not set all that well. And we have had lots of construction problems in new work. Maybe it is time to go and conquer some more craftsmen.
