Vashon Island May 2019

This is Omar. He is a Buddha in the garden at Don Cole and Joan Wortis’s house on Vashon Island. I named him Omar thinking he needs a name to help celebrate his superb covering of moss as he is integrating into the landscape.

The weather here is wet. Ferns do very well as do forests. We have seen the sun, in fact yesterday it got to be 72 degrees in the afternoon. But clouds seem to be always present.

The birdhouse looks as if it has green animals crawling on the roof, but no these are moss forms mysteriously generated by forces unknown and perhaps unknowable.

The shed in the rear of the house has a changing exhibition of pieces from the past. This one is from 1971 entitled “Colors Used Summer 1971”.
